H+H Celcon has introduced the RÃ¥ House (pronounced "raw"), a new concept in masonry construction. It is made from Celcon aircrete blocks stuck together using the "Thin-Joint" system. The floors and roofs also use proprietary systems, and there is an option to use Celcon Foundation blocks and the Celcon Flooring on the ground-floor.
The RÃ¥ House concept, which has been developed in response to the growing demand for modern methods of construction, avoids delays and logistical problems in co-ordinating tradesmen. Teams of installers are able to build a robust masonry shell for a typical pair of two-bedroom semi-detached houses, with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, in 10 days.
Once completed, the RÃ¥ House can be handed over for external finishing while the first-fix trades are working inside. The concept offers similar build speed to timber frame construction without the lead-time required for manufacture, and offers greater design flexibility.
H+H Celcon is developing a network of RÃ¥ House expert installers with all the necessary skills, covering blocklaying, H+H Celcon's Thin-Joint System, floor installation and roof construction. RÃ¥ House projects are under way in Wimbledon and Balham in south-west London, as well as in Milton Keynes, Derby and Malvern.
