Kalzip has supplied more than 800m2 of copper sheeting for the roof of the new Burns Monument Centre in Kilmarnock
The mix of straight and tapered sheets were chosen in part for their aesthetic appeal, and the material will oxidise gradually over time. The sheets were installed by contractor, CDW.
East Ayrshire council’s asset improvement service appointed Hunter Clarke as the main contractor and specified Kalzip copper on the grounds that it would blend in well with the centre’s natural stonework.
Kalzip’s fabrications department made and supplied a wide variety of bespoke copper flashings including the bull-nosed fascias and specially designed louvres as well as the roof liner, structural decking sheets and the membrane gutters, some of which were extensively facetted to suit the centre’s tightly curved wall areas.
