Work includes a new station in Edinburgh, bridgework and electrification of lines
Morgan Sindall, Bam Nuttall and Carillion have won 拢55m of work from Network Rail for improvements in the Edinburgh to Glasgow corridor.
Bam Nuttall is the biggest winner and will build 18 structures, mostly bridges, along the lines at a cost of 拢27m.
Morgan Sindall will build a new 拢25m station at Haymarket in Edinburgh, which will be fully integrated with the city鈥檚 tram and bus networks.
Meanwhile Carillion will conduct track alterations in the area worth 拢3m.
All the contracts form part of the Network Rail鈥檚 拢1bn Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme, which will see reduced journey times to the Scottish capital and Glasgow plus the electrification of 350km of existing rail lines.
Transport minister Keith Brown said: 鈥淭his 拢50m investment for the Haymarket Station Capacity Project and electrification takes us one step closer to revolutionising the rail network in central Scotland.鈥
