Contractor poised to maintain highway in the London Ontario area

Contractor Carillion has been appointed the preferred bidder to maintain the highways in Ontario, Canada, for the next 12 years in a job worth 拢100m.

The contract will see Carillion perform routine maintenance and also be paid extra for additional preventative maintenance services when required.

Richard Howson, chief executive of Carillion, said: 鈥淭his announcement further reinforces Carillion鈥檚 position as the leading private sector provider of highway maintenance services in Canada.鈥�

The contractor has previously been appointed to two other highways maintenance contracts in Canada, one in the Huntsville region of Ontario and the other in Eastern Central Region of Alberta, worth over 拢200m over the next 11 years.

Earlier this week Carillion鈥檚 UK business won a 拢105m contract to turn the M6 in Birmingham into a managed motorway with technology to control speed and traffic flow.
