As balconies are protrusions from the thermal barrier of a building, they can create cold bridging
To ensure this isn’t the case Archtechnik has developed a structural thermal break called ThermConX. The company says it is the only thermal break system to fully stop conduction of heat and cold. It uses a ceramic alloy with low thermal transmittance to prevent metal-to-metal contact between the internal and external support structure. The materials used in the ThermConx connections have a thermal conduction of 0.035W(Km) compared with steel’s 47.5W(Km). The thermal break components of ThermConX are supplied in four standard sizes.
