Third phase of upgrade work due to complete in 2016
Engineer WSP has been appointed to work on the 拢48m upgrade to the power systems on the West Coast mainline.
The construction contract for phase three of the 拢300m upgrade plan is being delivered by a joint venture between Alstom, Babcock and Costain.
Jim Fernand, UK rail project director at WSP, said: 鈥淲ith Network Rail鈥檚 electrification programme now taking shape this is a strategically important win for WSP.
He added: 鈥淥ur UK rail team will benefit from our global strength in power and electrification, in particular in Scandinavia.鈥�
The project is expected to complete in 2016.
