Paul Toyne charged with heading up Balfour Beatty Construction UK鈥檚 sustainability progress
Balfour Beatty has appointed an ex-WSP and Bovis Lend Lease director as director of sustainability for its UK construction business.
Paul Toyne joins the contractor as sustainability director after nearly three years as group sustainability director at WSP. Before that he was head of sustainability at Bovis Lend Lease for three years where he played a key role in the firm鈥檚 work on the London 2012 Olympic village.
Toyne will seek to build on Balfour Beatty鈥檚 sustainability improvements in recent years, which include a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 50% reduction in water use since 2010.
Nicholas Pollard, chief executive of Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK, said Toyne鈥檚 鈥渓eadership鈥 would 鈥渉elp us up our game still further鈥.
He added: 鈥淥ur customers increasingly look to us to provide sustainable solutions and innovations to solve their infrastructure challenges and we will.鈥
