Rotherham council selects contractor to design, build and maintain four PFI leisure centres over 32 years
Willmott Dixon has won four PFI leisure projects worth £35m as part of a team selected by Rotherham council to design, build, operate and maintain the centres over 32 years.
The team is led by DC Leisure, and Willmott will start as contractor on three of the schemes in July. It will start the fourth on in December.
The four facilities in south Yorkshire will provide 16,147 sq m of new leisure space. The largest is in Maltby and is worth £13m. It includes a new two-storey council office and a GP health centre.
All of the leisure centres will have swimming pools with moveable floors, fitness suites, dance studios, gym equipment and squash courts.
Three projects are due for completion by the end of 2008 while Maltby should be finished in November 2009.
Willmott Dixon’s Leeds office is working on the project.
