Contractor has signed deals for timber and steel frames
Willmott Dixon is looking to build 1,000 homes per year using off-site manufacturing by 2017 as part of an attempt to reduce its reliance on costly on-site trades.
The firm鈥檚 house building arm has signed a brace of three-year agreements with Robertson Timber Engineering for timber frames and Fusion 好色先生TV Systems to provide light-gauge steel frames.
Willmott Dixon鈥檚 residential construction chief operating officer Charlie Scherer said the move would enable the firm to utilise the benefits of factory-made systems while cutting back on labour costs.
He added the deals were 鈥渃entral to counterweight the resource challenges in industry, and deliver cost-effective, sustainable build solutions for our clients鈥�.
