Reports say Olympic legacy bosses will choose West Ham over Spurs and retain athletics track
West Ham have beaten Spurs in the fight for the Olympic stadium, reports suggest.
Olympic Park Legacy Committee executives have chosen West Ham鈥檚 bid, which would keep the stadium鈥檚 athletics track, the BBC reports.
Spurs鈥 plan to demolish most of the original stadium and remove the athletics track drew widespread criticism from the public and athletics bodies who said London鈥檚 bid promised to retain the facilities.
The OPLC board now has to ratify the decision, after which the government and the mayor of London should rubber stamp West Ham鈥檚 plan.
An OPLC spokesman said: 鈥淚t is pure speculation to say that a decision has been made.鈥
鈥淥ur board meets on Friday. There will be presentations by OPLC officers of both bids and a vote to recommend a preferred bidder.鈥
As part of West Ham鈥檚 plan, the stadium in Stratford, north London, would also host music concerts and entertainment.
