Unions and employers check hundreds of workers at Wembley following allegations of forged identity cards.
Hundreds of workers on Wembley stadium are undergoing identity checks this week after allegations were made of fraudulent documents being used to gain work on the site.
Unions and employers on Wembley are holding an audit of 600 electrical workers to check for false documentation after it was claimed that workers with forged skills cards were being employed on the site. The move comes at the same time as the government published plans to clampdown on identity fraud by making identity cards compulsory for UK passport holders.
Representatives from M&E union Amicus will examine workers' identification over the next week, with the backing of main contractor Multiplex and M&E contractor Honeywell. Particular attention will be paid to ECS cards, the mechanical sector's equivalent of the CSCS qualification.

The Wembley audit comes two weeks after police in Bedfordshire seized a haul of forged identity documents, including fake CSCS skills cards.
