Devastating fire destroys main building on the historic Eastbourne Pier

Firefighters spent the night at the scene of a major fire that ripped through part of Eastbourne Pier yesterday.

According to the BBC around 80 firefighters tackled the blaze, which destroyed the main building on the pier on Wednesday evening (30 July) leaving only a metal frame.

The BBC said no-one was injured in the fire, which police are not treating as suspicious.
