Heritage Lottery Fund dishes out 拢11.4m to architect Drmm鈥檚 restoration project
Architect Drmm鈥檚 planned restoration of Hastings Pier will receive a share of a 拢22.5m Heritage Lottery fund grant to help realise the scheme.
The scheme will receive 拢11.4m to help restore the pier which was ravaged by fire in 2010.
The project team also includes engineer Ramboll and cost consultant KMCS. The scheme will see the construction of a visitors centre, restaurant, roof top viewing terrace on the restored pier.
Comedian Jo Brand, who grew up in the area, said: 鈥淚 was gutted when the Pier was gutted and it鈥檚 really great news that the Heritage Lottery Fund is awarding such a substantial sum of money to help with restoration work. I can鈥檛 wait to see the new pier rise out of the ashes in the next couple of year.鈥
Other restoration projects to benefit from the fund included the Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire designed by Glenn Howells Architects and Hoxton Hall in London designed by Foster Wilson Architects.
Other projects to benefit from the 拢22.5m in funding were the Swiss Garden in Old Warden Park in Bedfordshire; St. Mary at the Quay church in Ipswich and Flodden Field in Northumbria.
