Delivery giant UPS has announced plans to build a 拢120m sorting office in the Thames Gateway.

The 32,000 sq m package sorting and delivery facility will be built at DP World鈥檚 London Gateway logistics complex in Essex.

UPS said the project was one of the company鈥檚 largest ever infrastructure investments outside of the US.

Luis Arriaga, managing director for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, said: 鈥淭his construction reaffirms UPS鈥檚 commitment to the UK and our confidence in its economy.

鈥淚t is part of our nearly $2bn (拢1.3bn) in infrastructure investments across Europe over the next five years.鈥

The facility is expected to complete in 2017 and once finished will be able to process 30,000 packages per hour, with room for expansion.
