Electrical contractor goes to High Court to enforce an adjudication award of more than £500k
Electrical and environmental contractors Techelec are headed for a High Court showdown in a row over work at a motorway service station.
Techelec carried out electrical work on the Stop 24 service station at junction 11 on the M20, owned by Henry Boot Developments, for central heating company Briman DBS, it is alleged.
But a dispute arose between Techelec and Briman which was referred to adjudication, and adjudicator Mr JD Murphy decided that Briman should pay Techelec £485,021.10 plus VAT and interest, and 88% of his fees, according to a High court writ.
In breach of the subcontract, Briman has failed to abide by his decision, the writ says.
Now Brighton based Techelec is seeking a court order forcing Briman to pay a total of £596,850.61 as well as a late payment penalty of £100 and interest of £178.90 a day.
