Six hundred researchers will work at Apex facility which will be completed by October 2011
Shepherd Construction has won a 拢16.5m contract to build a new research facility for the University of Liverpool.
The Apex building will have room for 600 researchers who will support the University鹿s health research into infectious diseases, cancer and digestive diseases.
The facility, scheduled to complete in October 2011, has been designed to achieve a BREEAM rating by using recycled materials and sustainable timber.
Steve Dickson, director of facilities management at the University of Liverpool said: 鈥淭his new facility will provide an inter-disciplinary research environment that will build on the University of Liverpool鹿s international reputation for health research.鈥
