Contract for 459-space car park is first on Merepark and Ballymore鈥檚 Central Village
The first contract on a 拢200m Liverpool regeneration scheme has been won by McGee.
The London-based structure and demolition contractor has been awarded a 拢7m design and build contract for a 459-space car park in Liverpool. The deal is the first phase of the Central Village project, through which developers Merepark and Ballymore are aiming to overhaul the city centre.
Further contracts still to be handed out include a cinema, two new hotels, residential apartments, shopping areas, public spaces and other mixed-use areas. The development will also include refurbishment of the city鈥檚 much-loved Lewis鈥檚 building and extensive improvement of the city鈥檚 Central Station.
Ian Jones, director of Merepark, said: 鈥淭hese announcements are a clear sign of the continued momentum at Central Village.鈥
鈥淎fter years of careful planning, negotiation and acquisitions it will be very satisfying to see our plans begin to come to fruition. We鈥檙e now looking forward to seeing the first phases of Central Village emerge.鈥
Work is due to start in summer and will be completed by June 2011.
