Work at Sunderland鈥檚 Bridges shopping centre involves creation of a three-storey Primark
Land Securities, owner of Sunderland鈥檚 Bridges shopping centre, has appointed Morgan Sindall for a 拢15m extension.
The work will include building a three-storey, 60,000ft2 Primark store - twice the size of the existing one - and creating a new entrance to improve the appearance of Sunderland鈥檚 High Street West.
Work on the site is scheduled to begin this month and finish in July 2012, creating around 150 jobs.
Jonathan Buckle, portfolio manager for the Bridges, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 great to see work starting on site and we鈥檙e very excited about the transformation we鈥檙e going to see over the coming months.
鈥漌e鈥檝e worked hand-in-hand with Sunderland council to ensure we proposed a viable extension strategy and I can鈥檛 wait to see our ideas take shape. What鈥檚 more we鈥檒l be bringing cranes back to the skyline of Sunderland City Centre and creating much needed jobs for the local economy.鈥
