Scheme will go up next door to Nissan鈥檚 car making plant

Henry Boot has been appointed as development partner for the International Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sunderland.

The 100ha park, backed by both South Tyneside and Sunderland city councils, will deliver more than 5,000 jobs in north east England.

Henry Boot will be responsible for the physical building of the site, which is proposed for an area close to the A19 and to the north of Nissan鈥檚 existing car making plant.

The park will be home to high-tech industries and advanced manufacturing businesses, forecasted to bring in more than 拢300m of private sector investment over the next decade.

It could also help secure more automotive supply chain jobs following Nissan鈥檚 announcements on the Qashqai and X-Trail replacement models being manufactured in Sunderland from 2020.

The government has already pledged 拢42m through the North East Local Enterprise Partnership towards infrastructure at IAMP including new roads and bridges.
