Industry figures warn that changes to building standards could increase cost of projects by 拢8,000
New green guidelines for housebuilders in Scotland could threaten new projects, according to warnings from the industry.
The changes to the 好色先生TV Standards Technical Handbook will limit the emissions of new homes to levels 30% lower than in 2007, when they come in to force in October.
A spokesperson for the Home Builders Federation said: 鈥淭here has got to be a cost implication, there is a potential threat to viability.鈥
Homes for Scotland - which represents Scottish building firms 鈥 estimates that the new rules will add up to 拢8,000 to the cost of each new build. Chief executive Jonathan Fair said: 鈥淭he home building industry remains fully supportive of the sustainability agenda and is already leading the way towards a low carbon economy when compared with almost all other industry sectors, but this momentum must be balanced against technical and affordability constraints.鈥
