A female gorilla surveys London zoo’s latest attraction, the £5.3m Gorilla Kingdom, built by Crispin & Borst, which will open to the public this weekend.
The day gym has 45mm thick glass to withstand the impact of a 26 stone gorilla running at 20mph. Architect Proctor and Matthews designed the gorillas’ habitat, which includes a moat to separate visitors from the animals, a bamboo canopy and the glass-fronted day gym.
