Body signs up to principles on construction best practice for Olympic and other projects
The Federation of Master Builders has formally signed up to the 2012 Construction Commitments.
President Ron Storer and director general Richard Diment signed the commitments today, which are designed to ensure that the construction industry delivers high-quality projects safely and on time.
The principles form a statement of intent from the industry on standards and best practice in construction.
They are entitled the 2012 Construction Commitments with reference to the Olympics, but are aimed at the whole industry and not just contractors working on Games venues.
Diment added that the federation is continuing to lobby the government for other best practice commitments.
鈥淭he FMB is lobbying for fairer procurements processes, which includes awarding a substantial share of work to SMEs, and also supports the proposals to ensure fair and timely payment,鈥 he said.
He added a hope that the federation's members would 鈥渓ead the SME sector of the industry by committing their support to the 2012 Construction Commitments and managing their businesses in accordance with the principles.鈥
