Jacques Rogge says that it was more important for 2012 Games organisers to avoid 'white elephants'
London鈥檚 2012 main stadium does not need an athletics legacy, the chief of the International Olympic Committee has said.
Jacques Rogge told the BBC that the organisers of the London 2012 Games should be careful of leaving behind 鈥渨hite elephants鈥.
He said: 鈥淚f the best solution is to transform the track into something else then we would be in favour of that.鈥
The announcement signals a shift in IOC policy, potentially opening the door for a football club to move to venue in Stratford after 2012.
