Crossrail has revealed the latest progress of the work going on at its delayed central London stations.

The project, which is now expected to open in summer 2021, has posted a showing the work at the six stations being built under the capital鈥檚 centre.

On its two problem projects, Bond Street and Whitechapel stations, Crossrail said 鈥渟ignificant fit-out progress had been made during 2019鈥�.

The railway added: 鈥淭he key focus for 2020 is reaching substantial completion by the end of the year.鈥�

In the video for Tottenham Court Road station, Crossrail said the project was substantially complete now that fit-out had been finished and that the main focus was on obtaining safety and assurance certification. It said this was also the case for Farringdon.

The railway also said major fit-out works were drawing to a close at both Paddington and Liverpool Street stations.

The project鈥檚 leadership team is aiming to start trial running trains through the central section of the railway this autumn.

Chief executive Mark Wild has previously said this aspect of the project will take between nine and 12 months but has expressed hope it can be accelerated if software is well progressed ahead of testing beginning.
