Developer will build 313 new homes for council, subject to planning
Clarion Housing Group has been chosen by Crawley Borough council to build more than 300 new homes as part of a multi-million pound town centre regeneration project.
Clarion will build 313 apartments (pictured) on a 1.85 acre site at Telford Place in the West Sussex town, currently being used as a temporary car park.
Around half of the homes will be available for private sale, with the remainder consisting of shared ownership homes and 87 council homes charged at affordable rents.
The scheme is part of the £60m Crawley Growth Programme which aims to build more than 1,000 new council homes for the borough in the next few years.
A planning application is due to be submitted by the end of the year, with building starting on site early in 2019.
Earlier this year Clarion announced plans to build 3,000 new build-to-rent homes, adding to its existing private rented portfolio of 800 homes.
The developer and housing association said it planned to build the new properties by 2023, with work commencing later this year.
