The glazed facade of a new office building in Reading has been designed with an exterior steel support. Nicholas Hare Architects integrated the support structure with a steel mesh, which provides the solar shading for the office’s entrance foyer. Installer Glamalco reversed the basic principles of fixing a curtain wall to a brise soleil, in order to secure the Kawneer 1612 curtain walling to the support structure. The brackets came through the nose of the curtain wall and are fixed into the flange of the curtain wall from the outside steel fins.
