Consultant will start work on 拢17m scheme to build headquarters in Cardiff Bay

Multidisciplinary consultant Capita Symonds has been appointed to work on the new South Wales Police divisional headquarters in Cardiff Bay. The 拢17m scheme is the largest development ever undertaken by South Wales Police.

The Cardiff-based team, led by regional director Jon Salt and associate director Ian Archer, will be handling all aspects of the project鈥檚 design and build including architecture, building services engineering and structural and environmental engineering.

Stradform will undertake the construction of the building.

Salt said: 鈥淭he new headquarters will provide the force with a fitting home for the 21st century and also continues our highly successful relationship with Stradform.鈥

The demolition of the original Butetown police station has already been completed and work to construct the new station is in its early stages.

When it opens in 2009 the new station will feature 60 cells and numerous state of the art facilities including computer aided cell management systems.
