Architect scoops job on 拢25m builidng in city's cultural industries quarter

Bond Bryan Architects has been appointed by Sheffield Hallam University to design a 拢25m building in the city鈥檚 cultural industries quarter.

The 9,500m2 building, which will house the for the faculty of development and society, has semi-transparent walls.

Matt Hutton, Bond Bryan associate, said: 鈥淭he need for the building to become a landmark within the city led us to developing a vibrant design concept that will radiate across the cityscape. Using translucent wall elements means that the building will shine and be seen across the city鈥檚 night skyline.

The design is meant to encourage collaborative work and learning, blurring the boundaries between formal and informal learning.

The building, which will be completed in 2012, has a top floor multi-use roof space and connected roof gardens.
