Work on King’s Cross deal to be completed in 2021
Bam has won a deal to build the new UK headquarters of US tech giant Facebook in London’s King’s Cross.
The contractor will put up the Bennett Associates-designed suite of new buildings (pictured) for the King’s Cross Partnership, a venture between developer Argent and Hermes Investment Management.
The work includes two buildings providing BREEAM Outstanding office accommodation and once finished, plots T2 and T3 will become known as 11-21 Canal Reach.
The building on plot T2 will be 12 storeys high at its highest point at the southern end of the site, stepping down to nine storeys towards the north.
Bam, which recently finished the £100m Coal Drops Yard scheme, also at King’s Cross, said completion of the Canal Reach project is expected in early 2021.
It is onsite already with enabling and substructure works before main construction work begins in earnest next year.
Financial details of the scheme have not been released but it is believed to be larger than Coal Drops Yard, making it one of Bam’s biggest ever deals.
