Firm buys rail, professional and technical services and road management firm
Construction group Balfour Beatty has completed three niche acquisitions at a total cost of approximately 拢9m.
The company says the move will strengthen its position in the European rail, professional and technical services, as well as road management and maintenance markets.
Ian Tyler, chief executive, said: 鈥淭hrough these three transactions in market areas where we already have strong businesses, we have both further improved our market position and added to our earnings growth potential.鈥
In the UK, the firm鈥檚 professional and technical services arm Balfour Beatty Management (BBM) has acquired the NAP Partnership. Based in Middlesbrough, NAP provides cost and contract consultancy and services for clients in the north of England.
Also in the UK, Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services (BBIS), the company鈥檚 road management and maintenance arm, has acquired Chris Britton Consultancy, a consulting engineering company in the highways and pavement management sector.
In Sweden, Balfour Beatty Rail acquired Carillion's Swedish rail contracting company. The firm will be merged with Balfour Beatty's existing Swedish rail operations.
