GIG Fassaden won with a 拢11.7m bid to design, manufacture and supply curtain wall systems

Austrian cladding firm GIG Fassaden has won an 拢11.7m curtain walling contract for the British Museum鈥檚 new World Conservation and Exhibitions Centre in London.

The 拢135m extension was designed by architect Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, and is scheduled to open in late 2013.

It will house laboratories for the conservation, preservation and research of the museum鈥檚 collection.

The firm beat three other unnamed companies to the job with a bid of 拢11.7m.

GIG Fassaden has been contracted to design, manufacture and supply anodised aluminium double glazed curtain wall systems, cast glass rainscreen, frameless double glazed cladding, anodised aluminium cladding, louvres and associated metalwork.

The firm has previously worked on high-profile projects in the UK, including the famous twisting bridge at London鈥檚 Royal Opera House. It also supplied windows and canopies for the London 2012 Olympics鈥� Athletes Village.
