SFS Intec has introduced the ALW fixing system to the UK. Used widely across Europe to construct glazed rainscreens, the system is now compatible with photovoltaic panels to enable the creation of a facade that generates electricity
The bracket system eliminates the need to drill glass panes, hence its suitability for PV panels. Instead, glass panes are simply slotted into the single or double ALW clamps, which can be any RAL colour or anodised to match. The result is a shingled facade with rear ventilation and minimal pane overlap, fixed to a steel framework. According to the company, ALW can be used to create facades of all sizes and accommodate large PV-generating rainscreens. ALW fixing clamps accommodate single and laminated glass, polycarbonate and PV panels in thicknesses from 8-18mm. SFS Intec’s glass fixing systems range also includes raised, bevel and flush-point fixings.
