• German single-ply roofing membrane maker FDT has joined forces with UK distribution company SIG Roofing Supplies (SIGR) in an exclusive distribution agreement, after five years of working together. SIGR, which is based in St Ives, Cornwall, will take on the distribution rights of FDT’s products under a dedicated division within the company.
• Kingspan Insulated Panels has become the first manufacturer in the metal roof and wall cladding industry to achieve BRE environmental profile certification. BRE’s assessment system looks at the cradle-to-grave impact of a product and awards a grade accordingly. Kingspan’s products achieved an A rating, following the environmental audit at its factory at Holywell in Flintshire.
• Ruberoid ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Products has published a guide to underslatings for roofers. The company says The Roofers’ Guide to Underslating Membranes will make it quick and easy to select the most suitable products for any roofing project. It explains the different types of underslating membranes and where to use them, and showcases the range of Ruberoid products. The guide is available in builders merchants nationwide or can be downloaded for free from the company’s website.
• The Sandtoft Training and Assessment Centre has conducted the first ever Experienced Worker Practical Assessment for candidates looking to gain an NVQ level 2 in roof tiling and slating. As part of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme, all roofers now require this qualification to gain CSCS skilled worker accreditation
