Oldroyd cavity drainage membranes now contain between 49-70% recycled plastic.
The membranes, which can be used for waterproofing and drainage applications such as green roofs, are produced using a multilayer technology to incorporate recycled material as an inner core.
A high-quality finish of virgin plastic is retained for the outer layers. These can be adapted for a particular purpose; for example, for green roofs the membrane exterior is rubberised to provide an effective non-slip surface. The use of recycled content through multilayer technology incorporates sustainable material that does not compromise performance, with an environmentally friendly, finished result.
The amount of recycled content in Oldroyd membranes is calculated in accordance with section 7.1.1.1 of ISO 14021:1999 for environmental labelling and declarations. The Oldroyd range is listed as part of the WRAP and NGS green specification schemes. These provide guides to materials and practices that minimise environmental impact and promote recycling and waste reduction.
