Glass specialist Schott has extended its range of Pyranova fire-resistant glazing so that glass panels can be butt-jointed without using framing elements.

Glass panels are jointed using a silicone joint that can also be used on corners. The company says tests on 15mm thick units show they offer fire protection for 30 minutes. The system is suitable for a range of applications, including interior partitions and atria walling. Schott has also brought out an innovative laminated glass that can conduct electricity. Called PowerKontakt, power is transmitted through a transparent PVB interlayer. It can transmit enough power to illuminate halogen spotlights and the product is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
