Work is progressing on the Shard, with the first 31 floors nearly complete

Shell and core work is nearly finished on the first 31 floors of the Shard, with fit-out starting on floors 22 to 28. Developer Sellar wants to gauge interest in the commercial part of the building before fitting out the other floors. Contractor Mace says work is going well, with the cladding 60% complete and services commissioning beginning in the basement plant rooms. The top 15 floors will be formed from a prefabricated steel spire that will be brought to site in sections. Work starts on the spire this autumn. For more see pages 34-39.
