Workshops launched for young drivers as sixty per cent of firms say training is inadequate
The majority of firms believe young people are not receiving adequate driver training for their work.
More than 60 per cent of employers felt the current system of learner training and testing did not prepare young people to drive satisfactorily, according to a study by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
The Young Drivers at Work project also found that one in three of all crashes involved a vehicle being driven for work.
In an initiative aimed at improving driving standards, RoSPA have launched 10 pilot workshops on hazard awareness and journey planning.
Duncan Vernon, road safety manager for the RoSPA, said 鈥淚t is clear that further support is needed for young drivers at work, and employers have indicated they prefer face-to-face workshops as a way of giving that support.鈥
