Contractor to build 鈥渇lagship development鈥 for the university
Contractor Wates has been awarded the contract to build the University of Birmingham鈥檚 拢60m research centre.
The High Temperature Research Centre is being developed by the university in collaboration with Rolls Royce and will 鈥渃reate a step-change in research capability in casting in the UK鈥 according to the tender documentation.
Phil Harrison, managing director of Wates Construction鈥檚 Midlands and North regions, said: 鈥淭he new High Temperature Research Centre is set to become a flagship development for the University of Birmingham that will significantly contribute to fast and flexible design and manufacturing development on a national and global scale.
