When in India鈥

Are you inspired by this week鈥檚 exploration of the construction market in India? We can offer some advice to anyone thinking of making the trip, writes Deborah Duke.

Eleven years ago, 好色先生TV published a handy guide for UK construction folk who were tempted to travel to India to get in on the building boom 鈥 but as well as providing information about markets, clients and construction practices, it gave some handy tips on how to fit in with the locals.

Feasting seemed to be on the menu 鈥 as the article advised: 鈥淚t is impolite to turn down food if you are a guest in somebody鈥檚 house, even if you have already eaten and are full.鈥 And remember: 鈥淏urp after a meal 鈥 it鈥檚 a sign of enjoyment.鈥

In downtime from construction pursuits, it recommended: 鈥淧lay golf on the highest golf course in the world at Gulmarg, party at a 鈥榝ull moon party鈥 in Goa, snorkel in the Andaman Islands, visit the Taj Mahal in Agra or go clubbing at Elevate in Delhi 鈥 it boasts the world鈥檚 鈥榝astest and most powerful body sonic dance floor鈥 .鈥

That鈥檚 quite the work trip. After all that clubbing, maybe UK expats wanting to cool off would even need to note the article鈥檚 stern warning: 鈥淣ude bathing is illegal.鈥
