Planning decision on Marlow scheme due this autumn
Details have started to emerge about which firms are working on plans to build a huge film studios complex at a former landfill site in Buckinghamshire.
Called Marlow Film Studios, the scheme will be built on a 36ha plot next to the A404 Westhorpe junction at Little Marlow.
Designed by Wilkinson Eyre, it will include sound stages, workshops, office accommodation and a 168,000 sq m production facility known as a Studio Hub.
Other features include cafes, an education building and a community building.
In a design and access statement submitted to Buckingham Council last month as part of the application, developer Dido Property said: 鈥淭he proposed development represents a significant new investment in the UK and the creative economy.鈥�
Consisting of two production clusters and the Studio Hub, it is designed to accommodate three large blockbuster film shoots each year.
The production blocks will consist of single-storey soundstages, workshops and offices, with some buildings containing green walls and roofs.
The studio hub, intended to be the core of the site, contains screening rooms, exhibition space, a cafe, restaurants and office accommodation.
Others working on the scheme include project manager Third London Wall, cost consultant and structural engineer Aecom and landscape architect Gillespies.
A public consultation closes next month with a decision on the scheme set to be made this October.
