Scheme will include 1,200 homes and a new 200-bed hotel
Weston Homes has submitted a planning application to develop the rundown Anglia Square site in the north of Norwich.
Working with landowner Columbia Needle, the Essex-based housebuilder鈥檚 plans for the 1.2 million ft虏 site include 1,200 homes, 10% of which would be classed as affordable and designated for low-income households.
Other amenities in the proposal include 40 new retail units, a new 200 bed hotel and a new leisure quarter, including a multi-screen cinema.
There would also be a new multi-storey car park providing 600 shopper parking spaces, while the project allows for 75% of the newly-built homes to have residential parking.
Bob Weston, Weston Homes鈥 chief executive and chairman, said 鈥渆xtensive discussions鈥 with the city council and local people had lasted two years.
He added: 鈥淗istorically Anglia Square has been subject to several abandoned or stalled proposals. We are committed to changing this and providing a successful future for the site.鈥
