Deal worth £2.1bn could run up to six years
Eight national and regional contractors have won spots on a new £2.1bn framework in the West Midlands being run by Solihull and Sandwell councils.
The work has been broken down into two lots – major works and intermediate.
Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon have been joined on the former by ISG and Galliford Try which will cover projects costing more than £5m and has a maximum value of £1.5bn.
Derby contractor GF Tomlinson, Wolverhampton firm Interclass, Seddon, which has an office in Birmingham, and Speller Metcalfe Malvern are all on the smaller lot which covers projects costing between £250,000 and £5m with a total maximum spend of £600m.
Called Constructing West Midlands 2, the framework, which has also been masterminded by consultant Acivico, will run for an initial four-year period with an option for it be extended by a further two years. It will be made available to other public sector bodies.
The work up for grabs includes public sector jobs such as schools, health facilities, infrastructure and offices.
