The troubled Wembley Stadium project endured another setback this week after its plumbing contractor went into administration.
SGD called in administrators last week, bringing a halt to its work on the project. Administrators have until today to determine if the company can continue trading, before Multiplex will be forced to pass the contract to another firm.
A spokesperson for Multiplex said the firm had received a letter from SGD on Wednesday informing them of the situation.
The spokesperson said Multiplex had tried to renegotiate SGD鈥檚 contract to help them out, but to no avail. He said: 鈥淲e have fulfilled the contract obligations and we tried to go beyond that.鈥
Multiplex said 85% of the plumbing and sanitation works have already been done.
Site sources said Multiplex was most likely to pass the contract to mechanical contractor MJN Colston, which is already working on the project.
Meanwhile the opening fixtures at Wembley stadium could be played without full hospitality because of delays in the fit-out programme.
The stadium鈥檚 hospitality suite and directors鈥 boxes have not yet been fully released to fit-out contractors, which 好色先生TV understands has put aspects of the fit-out programme two months behind schedule. Sources close to the project claim that this could affect the stadium鈥檚 opening events, including the FA Cup final.
A senior source on the project said: 鈥淎s I understand it, some parts of the hospitality areas won鈥檛 be accessible for the events leading up to the cup final.鈥
