Scheme will see more than 5,000 homes built over next 15 years
The first homes in a 拢1bn housing regeneration scheme in east London have been approved.
Joint venture partners Havering council and Wates Residential submitted plans for the Napier and New Plymouth House site in Rainham in May this year.
Drawn up by architect JTP, the proposals include 126 affordable homes and a further 71 homes for private sale.

Because of its size, the final decision rests with London mayor Sadiq Khan.
The site is included in the council鈥檚 12 Estates regeneration programme, which will see around 5,200 homes built in the borough over the next 12 to 15 years.
Essex demolition contractor Kilnbridge is carrying out work to tear down the existing homes along with a nearby two-storey car park. Main construction will begin early next year.
The wider project team includes BDP as landscape architect, Aecom as M&E consultant, Avison Young as planning consultant and structural and civil engineering consultant Clarkebond.
