Growth in overseas operations partially responsible for consultant鈥檚 profit rise

Consultant Waterman Group has reported an 11% rise in profit in its interim results, boosted by growth in its overseas operations.

The consultant reported pre-tax profit of 拢2.27m for the six months to 31 December 2006, compared with 拢2.01m in the corresponding period in 2005. Turnover rose 18.4% to 拢47.7m across the same period.

Additionally, overseas turnover increased by 64% over the period, providing 28% of total turnover. Principal areas of growth were Ireland, Russia, Poland, the Emirates and Australia.

Managing director Bob Campbell said: 鈥淟ooking forward, we are confident that we will continue to deliver an improving performance. Our markets are robust and we are making further investments in the near term to maintain our growth momentum in these exciting markets.鈥�

In the UK, the group is working on schemes including White City, Liverpool鈥檚 Paradise Street and Princess Quay, Hull. The group pinpoints London as a key market, off the back of strengthening commercial and residential markets.
