Office for Fair Trading extends period for examining Kier鈥檚 proposed 拢221m takeover with May Gurney

The competition watchdog has asked for more time to examine Kier鈥檚 proposed takeover of services firm May Gurney.

In a statement today, the Office for Fair Trading said it required ten further working days to examine Kier鈥檚 proposed 拢221m acquisition of May Gurney, which was announced last month.

The OFT has been expected to conclude its examination of the merger by 23 May, but has now said it requires until 10 June to consider the proposals.

Kier鈥檚 offer for May Gurney trumped Costain鈥檚 proposed 拢178m merger with the service firm.
