Pollard Thomas Edwards-designed development of the Arcade Site in Walthamstow wins planning permission
A Pollard Thomas Edwards-designed development of the Arcade Site in Walthamstow has won planning permission from Waltham Forest council.
The mixed-use development includes a multiplex cinema, 18,000ft2 of retail and leisure space and 121 mixed-tenure residential units.
Of the 121 flats and houses, 50 will be affordable or shared ownership and the remainder will be privately owned.
The flats and houses will be raised above street level, sitting atop the public amenities and overlooking a communal garden at the rear.
The site of the development is on the corner of Hoe Street and Walthamstow High Street, the home of Europe’s longest outdoor street market.
The scheme is due to start on site in Spring 2013.
