MDF moulding specialist gains accreditation to Carbon Action standard
MDF moulding specialist W Howard has set the target of reducing its carbon emissions by 7.5%. The firm鈥檚 carbon footprint was 2981.23 tonnes in 2007.
W Howard will be awarded full accreditation to Carbon Action, a new standard facilitated and supported by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Business Support Solutions.
Graham Williams, operation director, said: 鈥淏esides reducing our carbon emissions, we are seeing a whole range of direct and indirect benefits such as employee awareness for home life as well as work life, and estimated cost savings of 拢40,000 per annum.
鈥淚t will also make a majo9r contribution towards our aim to achieve ISO 14001 this year.鈥
The Carbon Action standard is designed to offer a coherent planned approach and a simple step-by-step guide to cutting emissions. It was developed following a successful pilot project in Trafford park lead by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
The manufacturer of primer mould will join a handful of companies in the North West to gain accreditation to the scheme which will be commercially released later this year.
