Gatwick airport has awarded a new contract to redevelop its South Terminal to Vinci
Vinci has picked up a 拢16.5m deal to redevelop Gatwick鈥檚 South Terminal.
The contract will concentrate on improvements to the forecourt of the passenger terminal. Developments will include a new coach waiting area, ticket booths, toilets and a new road system.
Gatwick鈥檚 director of capital projects, Raymond Melee said: 鈥淭his is one of our key strategic projects within our near 拢1bn investment programme, which will improve our service to passengers. Vinci construction UK has a strong track record on safety and extensive experience in challenging airport environments.鈥
The deal is part of a 拢30m redevelopment of the terminal which is due to be completed by March 2012, in time for the London Olympics. A 拢53m redevelopment of the airport鈥檚 rail station is also due to go ahead, though it is dependent on approval from the Department for Transport.
