Work on £75m job set to get going again this spring
Vinci has taken over bust firm Carillion’s £75m deal to build more than 1,000 flats for Manchester university students.
The job at the university’s Fallowfield campus (pictured), was awarded to Carillion on in August last year.
Work is scheduled to restart at the beginning of May with the firm told to build the 1,122 flats by September 2019 – in time for the start of the academic year.
As well as the student flats, the development also includes an energy centre, student amenity hub and associated landscaping.
Eight blocks make up the first phase of the scheme with two more phases – which have yet to be awarded – set to see another 2,000 flats built.
